What information should I study and where do I find it when trying to be hired as a state trooper.?

Basically this question is for an actual state trooper to respond to. I'm very serious and determined to make it as a state trooper in a certain Pacific Northwestern state but as of now I have had no real guidance on what things I should become familiar with, study and learn, and do to prepare myself to make it through the selection process successfully and get hired on with this agency. I don't have the money nor the time to go and get a college degree and if you ask the actual trooper recruiter they don't want to or can't give that kind of guidance. I just need some direction.
