My junior high son is embarred that me his mom fetches him from school. Must I?

Also, he doesn't want to be kissed on the cheeks when he leaves home, esp when his guy clmates are around. Is this part of puberty? Should I back off bec he says it ruins his "rep" (reputation) or cool image? He prefers his Dad who visits only during weekends.
