Are you my baby? what does that mean?!?

so i've been hanging out with my ex boyfriend lately. He and i broke up like 1 1/2 years ago and we havnt really talked much sense then (we just grew apart) But now hes changed. I dated a guy and lived with him in the mean time. Anyway, im single now and my ex asked me tonight "are you my baby?" what does that mean? Am i his girlfriend? i really like him and his friends tell me he really likes me too. He hates PDA, he doesnt even like kissing me in front of his friends. He just no that type of person. But is friends tole me that hes talked about me recently and they think i should give him a chance. Hes not the type of guy were you can just ask him, am i your girlfriend. So what do you think??
